This mountain is situated in the unspoiled Amazon rainforest that covers 90% Suriname and is part of the 'lungs of the world'. Because of the unspoiled nature, the rainforest in Suriname has a great wealth in plants and animals.
Day 1: Flight from Paramaribo (Zorg en Hoop airstrip) to Palumeu. With a dug out canoe to Palawa island. Visit to the Amerindian village of Palumeu. In the evening there is a teach-in for the adventurous hike to the Kasikasima Mountain. Stay over at Palumeu.
Day 2: Start of the expedition, boot trip 3 to 7 hours, depending on the water level. At the Wejo falls, swimming and lunch. Stay over at a primitive jungle camp at Mopho Kampoe.
Day 3: Boot trip to Trombakasula, a rapid that easily throws back a dugout canoe. Because of that we hike with luggage and outboard motor to the other side of the rapid. At night preparation for the Mountain ascent the next day.
Day 4: An intensive climb on a jungle trail to one of the 12 tops of the Kasikasima Mountain (7 hours roundtrip). Incredible view on the other tops and the surrounding forest. At night campfire.
Dag 5: Educational forests walk to the Kodebakusula (rapids). Locale guides take the enthusiasts angling. At night caiman watching.
Day 6: Return trip with jungle picnic. On parts of the river we don't use the outboard motor but we paddle to maximize the jungle experience on the river. Stay over at Palumeu.
Day 7: Relaxing after the heavy expedition with nice activities like swimming, fishing, Amerindian bow shooting, walking. Stay over at Palumeu.
Day 8: Guided tour in the Amerindian village Palumeu with a locale guide. You can buy locale souvenirs and traditional implements. In the afternoon return trip to Paramaribo. Same as the 8 day Kasikasima expedition but without the extra days and activities at Palumeu.
Can be combined with the Awarradam tour to make it an 8 day tour.
