The Brownsberg nature park is situated 112 km south of Paramaribo and covers 12000 hectares. Brownsberg is the only nature park that is accessible by road. You can choose between one day and multiple day tours

The Mazaroni plateau is situated at an altitude of 500 meter with a unique view of the mountain range and the van Blommenstein reservoir. The view of the mountain range with its imposing dense foliage looks just like a picture with a multitude of green shades.

Depending on the season the yellow and purple blossoms of the Groenhart and Purperhart tree burst through the green shade. Several hiking trails through the impressive highland forest lead you to idyllic waterfalls and mountain streams. Brownsberg is a paradise for butterfly lovers and birdwatchers. Almost 300 species of birds occur at Brownsberg.

Parrots, Toucans, ant birds, the unique White Bellbird, de Screaming Piha and the noisy Red Throated Caracara are a joy for every visitor. Almost all mammals of the Amazon rain forest can also be found here. With some luck you will meet deer, rabbits, squirrels and different species of monkeys during the hikes.

2 day tour:

Day 1: Departure 08.00 hrs from Paramaribo. Arrival at Brownsberg. Guided hike to the northern view point. Lunch. Visit Leo falls.

Day 2: 07.00 hrs. Early morning walk. Breakfast and an intensive hike to the Irene falls. Arrival Paramaribo 18.00 hrs.

3 day tour:

Day 1: departure 08.00 hrs from Paramaribo. Arrival at Brownsberg. Guided hike to the northern view point. Lunch. Visit Leo falls.

Day 2: 07.00 early morning walk on the Mazaronitrail, breakfast, followed by a long walk to the Witi creek. 14.00 hrs lunch, free afternoon.
